Welcome! We're glad you're here!
This website provides public information about the potential future development of the Brightwood Golf and Country Club land located in beautiful Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
In January of 2006, the Halifax Regional council voted down a proposal for development of the Brightwood Lands. This was a significant decision in support of the neighborhoods around Brightwood and the 3000 people who supported retaining this lovely green area in the heart of the City.
The BGCC has a mandate from the majority of their members to relocate their course.
Also we have had indications from the City that future development proposals for this land will be looked at and advised both sides to get together to work something out.
The executive of Citizens for Brightwood has been in discussions with the Club and has proposed a compromise solution which will retain at least 50% of the land for park and recreation and with the remainder being an outstanding development of character, charm, and sensitive to the surrounding neighborhoods and residents.

While we recognize that the majority of people in the Brightwood area want the
golf course to remain, this plan is being studied by the Community and consultants for its feasibility and acceptability. It does not represent a development agreement, a formal proposal supported by all members of this organization, or an open ended agreement to any or all development.
